March 2023: Resound introduced their brand new Omnia BTEs and custom-made styles (including two rechargeable options).
Resound Omnia hearing aids were introduced in September 2022, offering a variety of colours. The Resound Omnia 5 hearing aids support Bluetooth streaming for both Android and iPhone devices, along with a new hands-free calling feature for Apple users. There are two models with traditional batteries and one with a rechargeable option, providing up to 30 hours of usage on a single charge.
The Resound Omnia hearing aids are designed with a strong emphasis on enhancing the wearer’s listening experience, especially in challenging environments with high background noise. Building on the technology from the Resound ONE hearing aids launched two years prior, the Omnia range introduces several key improvements:
So, what does all this mean for your hearing? The Omnia hearing aids automatically focus on the sounds you want to hear, giving you complete control over your listening experience—without interference from your hearing aids.
While previous Resound models did well in clarifying speech in noisy situations, loud sounds from behind or from the side could sometimes distort the sound. With the Omnia, the emphasis is on managing and reducing background noise for a clearer, more accurate listening experience.
The design wasn't reinvented for Omnia it is the same as the Resound ONE. The ONE shape was liked by many, so I'm sure that consumers will be glad there was no redesign for this new product. The second is that the Resound app has stayed the same, but they did add a new feature - Check My Fit. More on that later.
Finally, they continued with the M&RIE receiver.
The Omnia 5 hearing aids share the same design as the Resound ONE but come with several new and improved features. One of the key upgrades is the enhanced Ultra Focus, which allows the wearer to direct their listening focus towards someone in front of them. A new algorithm has also been introduced to reduce the volume of the wearer’s own voice.
However, the standout feature of the Omnia is its improvements in speech understanding in noisy environments, with claims of a 150% increase in clarity thanks to their Organic Hearing concept. While the name may sound elaborate, it simply means that the hearing aids provide a more natural sound, feel more comfortable, and seamlessly integrate into your everyday life.
Resound's research found that 80% of users placed high importance on hearing clearly in noisy situations, prompting the brand to prioritise this in Omnia’s development. The 150% improvement, however, refers to a comparison with older models, such as the LiNX 3D.
That said, users of the latest Resound hearing aids consistently report enjoying the natural sound quality, suggesting the company is definitely on the right track!
The Check My Fit feature is a great tool to ensure that your hearing aids are in correctly - especially when you are a new hearing aid wearer. Like Widex Moment Sheer, which focuses on the "first-fit" experience element of hearing aids, this feature will hopefully eradicate uncertainty. How can this help you? Using this feature will help you to always benefit from the best hearing experience.
We think this feature will be a good reminder in those first few weeks of wearing and adjusting to new hearing aids. Giving you the confidence you need.
Resound Omnia 5 hearing aids are the budget or entry-price device of this range, therefore it has all the essential features you will need. Such as Bluetooth and clear sound. However, this performance level doesn't have the unique M&RIE microphone.
But, if you are someone who spends time in small groups or at home, this level will give you what you need on a budget.

Generally speaking, six or more. Unless it's none at all.
The number of channels a hearing aid has is often a simplistic way an audiologist will use to explain why one hearing aid is better than another, but channels are complex and it is really not that straightforward. Here are some reasons why:
Hearing aids amplify sounds of different frequencies by different amounts. Most people have lost more high frequencies than low and therefore need more amplification in the high frequencies. The range of sounds you hear are split into frequency bands or channels and the hearing aids are set to provide the right amount of hearing at each frequency level.
Less than six channels and this cannot be done with much accuracy, so six is the magic number. However, a six channel aid is typically very basic with few other features and is suitable only for hearing a single speaker in a quiet room. The number of channels is not what you should be looking at, it's more the rest of the technology that comes with them.
As a final note, different manufacturers have different approaches. One method is not necessarily better than any other. For example, some manufacturers have as many as 64 channels in their top aids. Most tend to have between 17 and 20. One manufacturer has no channels at all.
