Comparing Resound Omnia hearing aids to the ONE range - what's changed?
Two years after the popular Resound ONE hearing aid, we now welcome Omnia to the industry. Wearers liked the modern design, unique microphone placement and the natural sound of the ONE, but what was been improved and what has stayed the same?
Resound has made advancements and improvements in a few areas of its hearing aid technology. Such as:
- They have improved their sound environment using their 360 All Around technology.
- They have made their processing faster for better selection and detection.
- They have narrowed their beamforming for more speech clarity in all listening environments.
- There is also hands-free calling for both iPhones and iPads available.
- Own voice perception gets an upgrade too.
What do the improvements for Resound Omnia mean for your hearing?
How does all this help your hearing? All the above together is said to give you automatic focus on what you want to tune into or listen to. This means you have full control of how you want to hear and not your hearing aids. Effectively combining humans and machines together to get the best hearing outcome that is unique to you. But, this is not the only focus of Omnia.
Previous Resound hearing aids did a pretty good job of making speech clear in noisy environments, but there could be times when loud sounds from behind or at the side would distort the soundscape. With Omnia, it's all about the background noise.
What has stayed the same? The design wasn't reinvented for Omnia it is the same as the Resound ONE. The ONE shape was liked by many, so I'm sure that consumers will be glad there was no redesign for this new product. The second is that the Resound app has stayed the same, but they did add a new feature - Check My Fit. More on that later. Finally, they have continued with the M&RIE receiver.

Resound has stated that they have improved speech understanding by around 150%, with the audiology industry's only Organic Hearing technology. When the brand researched how important hearing in background noise was to people, 80% said it was - so I guess they had to do something to tackle this common hurdle. Therefore, this was Omnia's main focus point.
However, in reality, the 150% improvement they are referring to is when compared to their legacy products, such as LiNX 3D (Resound online states*improvement to speech understanding compared to legacy products). That being said, hearing aid wearers who have worn the latest Resound offerings enjoy the natural sound, so they must be onto something!
And what does Organic Hearing actually mean? It simply means that the hearing aids sound natural, feel natural and connect to your world in a natural way.
A better fit with Resound Omnia hearing aids
The Check My Fit feature is a great tool to ensure that your hearing aids are in correctly - especially when you are a new hearing aid wearer. Like Widex Moment Sheer, which is focusing on the "first-fit" experience element of hearing aids, this feature will hopefully eradicate uncertainty.

Resound Omnia hearing aids for Apple/iOS
- Hands-free calls need an iOS 15.3 or later.
- Requirement for running the apps needs iOS 12 or later.
- Watch support requires watchOS 5 and iOS 12 or later.
- Connectivity to hearing aids needs an iPhone 5s or later.
Resound Omnia hearing aids for Android
- For full streaming compatibility with Android devices requires at least an Android v10 and Bluetooth 5.0.
- If your mobile isn't supported then you can use the Resound PhoneClip+ to connect to any phone with at least Bluetooth V 2.0.
Resound Omnia rechargeable hearing aids
Gain from 30 hours' worth of power with a single charge. Resound Omnia hearing aids are also compatible with both the standard, desktop and premium charging stations. These hearing aids will also be compatible with all of the brand's digital hearing aid accessories.

The Resound Omnia hearing aids are only available in three RIC models. As you can see from the below image, all devices are exactly the same as the Resound ONE hearing aid shape. There are two traditional battery offerings and one rechargeable option.

Resound Omnia hearing aids include the M&RIE receiver
Omnia combines the usual microphones with an additional one, which is positioned in the receiver itself. So how does this help your hearing? Location is great and being able to hear who you are talking to clearly within a background that isn't dominating is the first sign of a successful hearing aid.
If you have too much audible background noise it starts to overwhelm you and even tire you out. However, too little and you aren't aware of your surroundings or what's going on. Your spatial awareness is affected. The Resound Omnia strikes the right balance.
