Launched in February 2024, the Resound Nexia 5 hearing aids offer an innovative auditory experience designed to meet the needs of those with mild to profound hearing loss. This range is touted as the most advanced technology from Resound at the time of its release, featuring improved hearing support, enhanced connectivity, and readiness for Bluetooth Auracast broadcast audio.
Incorporating Resound's proven Organic Hearing technology, the Nexia 5 hearing aids deliver a natural and immersive sound experience, all while benefiting from premium connectivity for a seamless listening experience.
Research shows that 70% of hearing aid users prefer compact, discreet designs, which is why Resound has introduced the microRIE – their smallest rechargeable model to date.
The Nexia 5 hearing aids also provide a 150% improvement in speech clarity in noisy environments and superior performance in dealing with background noise. This is thanks to the integration of narrow beamforming directionality for better hearing in noise, combined with omnidirectional listening to help users hear clearly in different settings.
Environmental Optimiser: Automatically adjusts your hearing settings to ensure optimal sound in various environments, providing the best hearing experience no matter where you are.
DFS Ultra III: Reduces unwanted feedback while maintaining sound quality, preventing issues like sudden volume drops or feedback that some other hearing aids may experience.
Binaural Directionality III: Allows both hearing aids to work in tandem to replicate how natural hearing works, improving overall sound clarity and balance.
Adaptive Directionality: Adjusts the microphone pattern to reduce the loudest sounds from behind, helping you focus on sounds in front of you.
microRIE: Rechargeable with a Lithium-ion all-day battery, featuring tap control, a push button, mobile call streaming, and compatibility with Resound's wireless accessories (such as the TV-Streamer+). It can be charged using premium, standard, or desktop chargers.
RIE 61: Uses a 312 Zinc-Air battery, with a push button and compatibility with Resound wireless accessories for streaming mobile calls.
RIE 62: Powered by a 13 Zinc-Air battery, includes a multi-function button, telecoil, and connects with Resound wireless accessories for mobile call streaming.
BTE/Power BTE: Rechargeable Behind-the-Ear hearing aids with a Lithium-ion battery, push
ITC/ITE: Rechargeable custom hearing aids with a Lithium-ion battery and custom charger.

The Resound Nexia 5 hearing aids feature advanced Bluetooth Auracast compatibility, providing superior sound quality, reduced battery consumption, and an overall enhanced audio experience. These devices can also share audio with other devices that support Auracast, such as mobile phones and hearing aids.
In addition, the Nexia 5 hearing aids are compatible with the TV-Streamer+, which also supports Bluetooth Auracast, allowing you to stream audio directly to your hearing aids at the volume level you prefer via the Smart 3D App.
The Smart 3D App is designed to help users get the most out of their hearing aids. It offers guidance on proper wearing, the ability to personalise your listening preferences, and provides remote support from your audiologist at your convenience. The app also features a new "Hear in Noise" programme, enabling you to make adjustments for better hearing in noisy environments.

Generally speaking, six or more. Unless it's none at all.
The number of channels a hearing aid has is often a simplistic way an audiologist will use to explain why one hearing aid is better than another, but channels are complex and it is really not that straightforward. Here are some reasons why:
Hearing aids amplify sounds of different frequencies by different amounts. Most people have lost more high frequencies than low and therefore need more amplification in the high frequencies. The range of sounds you hear are split into frequency bands or channels and the hearing aids are set to provide the right amount of hearing at each frequency level.
Less than six channels and this cannot be done with much accuracy, so six is the magic number. However, a six channel aid is typically very basic with few other features and is suitable only for hearing a single speaker in a quiet room. The number of channels is not what you should be looking at, it's more the rest of the technology that comes with them.
As a final note, different manufacturers have different approaches. One method is not necessarily better than any other. For example, some manufacturers have as many as 64 channels in their top aids. Most tend to have between 17 and 20. One manufacturer has no channels at all.
