Oticon is owned by the Danish company Demant A/S which also owns the hearing aid manufacturer Bernafon. Demant also owns the hearing aid retailer Hidden Hearing.

If you've been to Hidden Hearing and been recommended Oticon or Bernafon hearing aids then it's perhaps a little more than coincidental.

The Oticon OPN range of hearing aids has received the best reviews from our audiologists compared to all other ranges from all manufacturers.

Oticon continues to lead in hearing aid innovation with the release of Oticon Intent in 2024. This model builds upon the advancements of its predecessors—Oticon Real, More, and Opn S.

Oticon Hearing Aids In The UK

An introduction to Oticon hearing aids

Are Oticon hearing aids any good?  Oticon is one of the world's most advanced producers of digital hearing aids. For over a century they have been creating high-quality hearing aid technologies for individuals with hearing loss.

The tale of Oticon starts with the efforts of one man to help his own wife's hearing loss. Their motto of "People First" has guided the business ever since. Whether developing the latest in hearing technology or helping individuals better access hearing aids, Oticon puts the customer first, every time. ⠀

They launched their latest model in March 2019. Called the Opn S, this model builds on the original to give an even better experience. On the same model family, they also launched their first-ever lithium-ion-powered rechargeable listening device.

Oticon Hearing Aids Reviews

Oticon hearing aid technology

Special features of Oticon hearing aids - Polaris and Sirius platforms

Oticon's latest sound processing platforms enhance BrainHearing with advanced chipsets and sound processing algorithms. The Polaris semiconductor chip offers:  “16x more capacity for executing advanced algorithms,” “twice the computation capacity and speed,” and features an onboard DNN processor, along with significant improvements over the previous Velox S chip.

Based on EEG brain measurements, Oticon found that Polaris delivered “30% more sound to the brain” and made “the full sound scene 60% clearer.”

In February 2023, Oticon refined the Polaris chip with the introduction of the Polaris R platform in the Oticon Real hearing aid. This platform uses RealSound technology and DNN with over 12 million real-life sound scenes to provide users with a full spectrum of sounds in various environments.

A significant advancement in Oticon's technology occurred in February 2024 with the launch of the Sirius chip platform, which elevates BrainHearing, sensor technology, and artificial intelligence in hearing aids to a new level.

Oticon hearing aids Deep Neural Network (DNN) technology

With the launch of Oticon More in January 2021, Oticon introduced its Deep Neural Network or DNN. This technology supports a better listening experience by giving your brain more meaningful and important sound data.

Providing you with clear sound and speech - a deep neural network has the ability to always follow the conversation and understand sound.

Oticon hearing aids Velox Processing platform

Velox offers significant improvements over its previous Inium Sense platform by combining a more powerful chipset with new sound processing software.  Velox provides 50 times faster data processing to analyse and balance external sounds and makes it easier to follow quickly changing conversations in public places.

It scans, analyses and responds more than 100 times per second to its immediate environment, helping the OpenSound Navigator software to balance voice sources and eliminate noise between the words you want to hear.

Oticon BrainHearing technology

This is one of Oticon’s standout features. It allows your 360-degree environment to be scanned by the hearing aid, offers more full assistance for how the brain processes noise and allows enhanced real-time processing to help your ear deliver healthier sound signals to the brain.

It may seem like all hearing aids do this, but there are many hearing aids that can only pick up sound from one direction. This means they often receive the sound of what your head is pointed towards. BrainHearing enables omnidirectional listening, which is the same way the human ear receives sound.

BrainHearing delivers audio with the clearest, purest possible signal— the best way your brain can comprehend it. Furthermore, because Oticon's BrainHearing technology retains the most important sounds in speech, your brain does not need to struggle to fill in the gaps in noisy environments.

Oticon hearing aids RealSound technology

Oticon's latest AI innovation, known as RealSound technology, uses an onboard Deep Neural Network (DNN) to process sounds, creating a contrast between speech and background noise while minimising distractions. Oticon asserts that this unique process facilitates easier focus and comprehension in conversations, enhancing speech understanding.

The technology has been further improved in Oticon Intent, which incorporates onboard sensor technology designed to understand what you most want to hear in a full 360° soundscape.

Oticon hearing aid's OpenSound Navigator and 360-degree sounds

The OpenSound Navigator algorithm effectively differentiates between speech and background noise within your surroundings, allowing you to focus on the most important sounds.

Experience a complete soundscape transmitted to your brain, diminishing the strain on your hearing and enabling you to concentrate primarily on sounds in your immediate vicinity or ahead of you.

Oticon hearing aid accessories

Oticon has a great portfolio of hearing aid accessories that can transmit sound from audio devices straight to your hearing aids.  Ask your audiologist to show all the ones that are available and beneficial to you and your hearing loss.

Oticon hearing aid app

Is there an app for Oticon hearing aids?  With the Oticon ON hearing aid app, you can integrate Oticon hearing aids and the IFTTT (If This, Then That) platform. This enables consumers to incorporate their Oticon hearing aids with 'internet of things' technologies such as light controls, home alarms, smart thermostats, TV recordings, text messages, and more.

Here are some of the ‘recipes’ you can access with the use of the Oticon ON app and the IFTTT platform:

Oticon hearing aid troubleshooting and support

Oticon hearing aid adjustments are also possible via the app, like changing volume and programmes easily.  However, we do know how important knowing your hearing aid device is so ensure that you write down any questions you may have before your audiologist appointment.

This could be knowing the various Oticon hearing aid adjustments and:

Oticon hearing aid Android compatibility

Are Oticon hearing aids Bluetooth compatible?  What about Oticon hearing aids Android compatibility?  With the latest Oticon hearing aids, you will have compatibility with the new Android accessibility protocol, Audio Streaming for Hearing Aids (ASHA) direct streaming from Android devices 10 or later, and Bluetooth 5.0.

What about Oticon hearing aids and iPhone mobile phones?  Oticon hearing aids are generally compatible with devices running iOS 11 or later.  However, we always advise checking with your audiologist on whether your current phone is compatible with the Oticon hearing aids you wish to purchase.

Oticon hearing aid prices

Oticon hearing aids prices range from £1,495 to £3,895 per pair.  Please keep in mind that these are our prices and we recommend you always compare both our prices and services with other hearing aid providers.

Oticon hearing aid hearing loss and tinnitus information

Oticon hearing aids are designed to help manage tinnitus by providing a variety of soothing sounds to help shift your focus away from the ringing.  The Tinnitus SoundSupport feature offers a selection of calming sounds, such as white noise or ocean waves, which you can easily customize to your preference. You can adjust the sounds using the Oticon Companion app or directly on the hearing aid itself.

With Oticon hearing aids, you can also wirelessly stream tinnitus relief content like podcasts, audiobooks, music, or guided relaxation, providing even more ways to find relief and distraction.

Oticon Intent hearing aids

Launched in 2024, the Oticon Intent hearing aids built upon Real by optimising their second-generation Deep Neural Network (DNN) 2.0 and introducing their 4D sensor technology (a world's first!) on their new Sirius platform.

Oticon Intent hearing aids are said to understand every user's listening intention, therefore, in theory, you will benefit from truly personalised hearing that deals with your distinct requirements.  It does this by incorporating head and body movements, conversation activity, and listening environment into its new 4D sensor technology.

This 4D technology is said to go beyond just hearing, it adapts sound processing according to your unique listening needs to support you better in communication and engagement.

Oticon Real hearing aids

Along with developments in their general technology, we saw in More, like the MoreSound Amplifier and MoreSound Intelligence (all now 2.0) - everything is now powered by a new and powerful processing chip - the Polaris R.

But, the main improvements in Real are the greater focus on solving key pains for hearing aid users.  Such as sudden, disruptive, and uncomfortable sounds.  All these new features within Oticon Real hearing aids are a part of the new RealSound technology

►Oticon Real 2 hearing aids

►Oticon Real 3 hearing aids

Oticon Own hearing aids

Oticon Own is the world's first custom aid, which includes onboard Deep Neural Network AI technology (DNN) and is powered by the Polaris platform (first seen in Oticon More).  All the Own hearing aids provide exactly the same features as the Oticon More, but in an ITE model and they also don't connect with the CROS system.

►Oticon Own 1 hearing aids

►Oticon Own 2 hearing aids

►Oticon Own 3 hearing aids

Oticon Zircon hearing aids

Launched in January 2022, the Oticon Zircon hearing aids replaced the Ruby and Siya as their new essential hearing aid range.  They are powered by the Polaris platform and also include some technical favourites seen in Oticon More.

The BrainHearing technology and 360° speech are two great examples. Ultimately, it offers clear sound and focus from all directions, even in challenging listening situations for wearers.

►Oticon Zircon 1 hearing aids

►Oticon Zircon 2 hearing aids

Oticon More hearing aids

Launching in January 2021, Oticon More hearing aids are designed to give you access to more meaningful sounds around you - so you get more of life's details in more balance and clarity with their new Polaris platform and Deep Neural Network.

►Oticon More 1 hearing aids

►Oticon More 2 hearing aids

►Oticon More 3 hearing aids

Oticon Ruby hearing aids

Oticon launched the Ruby hearing aid in 2020, to raise the standards of the essential hearing aid category in the industry.  Combined with their Siya budget hearing aid range - there are now many styles to choose from at good value for money.

Oticon Xceed hearing aids

Launching in 2019 - Oticon Xceed provided better speech clarity, with reduced listening effort in challenging environments when compared to other generations of power aids - for people with severe to profound hearing loss.  Offering wearers 360-degree sound in the ever-changing world around them.

►Oticon Xceed 1 hearing aids

►Oticon Xceed 2 hearing aids

►Oticon Xceed 3 hearing aids

Oticon Opn S hearing aids

Oticon followed up their very popular Opn range with a substantial upgrade, the Opn S. This model builds on the success of the previous model with faster sound processing as it is powered by the new advanced Velox S platform. These improvements combine to align voice comprehension on par with ordinary hearing abilities.

One of the latest features is the OpenSound Optimizer technology. This provides you with the option to add up to six decibels of gain without the danger of feedback. This helps the Opn provide up to 30% more speech cues to the brain.

Whenever a patient feels they need an extra boost, they can turn on the OpenSound Booster. This helps them in particularly noisy environments to hear and communicate better.

The Opn S is Made For iPhone, offering direct connectivity to Apple devices for streaming content. Other smartphones can be connected with the ConnectClip accessory. The Opn S also offers a new sleek rechargeable option in the Opn miniRITE R, a lithium-ion powered hearing aid able to last an entire day on just one overnight charge.

Oticon Opn hearing aids

Oticon launched this Opn hearing aid family in 2016, and it has been one of their most celebrated offerings ever since. With the use of the IFTTT platform, it was considered the world’s first internet-connected hearing aid.

With the Opn, Oticon leveraged "BrainHearing" technology to enable less listening effort, a better comprehension of speech, and the ability to remember more of the speech heard.

Speech Rescue LX is available in each Oticon Opn hearing aid. The change in sound frequencies to levels where the person has less hearing loss gives the user a better chance of hearing and understanding the sound signals they traditionally have trouble over.

Through Oticon's ConnectClip accessory, Oticon Opn hearing aids can stream music straight from iPhones or iPads, Android smartphones, and other Bluetooth-enabled devices.
